About SaleDrop

We are a small South African team that tracks retail prices and keeps the history, so a discount can be judged on facts instead of a crossed-out number.

What we do

We follow prices at South African retailers over time and record how they move. When something goes on sale, we already know what it usually costs, what the lowest price we have seen is, and whether the was-price is anywhere near reality. Every deal on the site links out to the retailer. We do not sell anything and there is no checkout here.

Why the price history matters

A discount only means something next to an honest starting price. Retailers set their own was-prices, and those numbers are often set high to make a saving look bigger. By keeping our own record of what an item actually charged, we can show when a saving is genuine and when it is mostly marketing.

How we make money

SaleDrop earns from advertising on the site. We have no commercial relationship with the shops we track, take no commission, and are not an affiliate of any retailer. What we highlight is driven by the price data, not by who pays us. Our editorial policy spells this out.
