Editorial policy

The rules we hold ourselves to when we call a discount real, modest or unproven.

Every claim is measured

Nothing on this site says a saving is real unless our own recorded price history shows it. A deal earns the green "real" label only when the item's price has genuinely moved while we tracked it and today's price sits 20% or more below the price the item usually holds. Anything less gets a weaker label, or none.

We judge only what we watched

We can only speak to the period we have tracked an item. If a was-price is higher than anything we have recorded, we say exactly that: we have not seen it at that price while watching. We do not claim the was-price is false, because the item could have held it before we started. The tracking window is printed on every deal page.

No pay for praise

The shops we track do not pay us, sponsor placements, or see our copy before it is published. We take no commission on anything you buy. The site earns from advertising served by Google, and advertisers have no influence over which deals we feature or how we judge them.

Mistakes get fixed

Prices change constantly and our record can lag or err. When a reader shows us a wrong price or a misleading page, we check it against the retailer and correct it. Corrections go to hello@saledrop.co.za.

What we do not publish

We do not publish adult products, weapons, alcohol or vaping items even when they are on sale, and we do not use countdown timers, invented urgency or any number we cannot back with our own records.
