Does Fabiani have genuine sales, or is the discount off an inflated price?

It varies by item, and the gap can be wide. Across the 47 Fabiani deals we have tracked long enough to judge, the typical badge is 50% off, but measured against the price the item actually holds, the median real saving is R0 (0%). The rest of that percentage is calculated off a was-price we have not seen the item reach. We show both numbers on every deal so the badge does not do the deciding.

What is the biggest genuine Fabiani price drop SaleDrop has recorded?

Right now the deepest genuine Fabiani saving we are showing is 6% below the usual price: Fabiani Men's Black Lyocell Sweatshirt, now R799 against the R849 it usually sells at. That is measured off the price the item genuinely held, not the advertised was-price.

How many Fabiani deals is SaleDrop tracking right now?

We are tracking 47 Fabiani deals at 50% or more off, priced from R249 to R4,999, up to 61% off. Of those, 47 have enough recorded history for us to judge the saving, and 11 are at the lowest price we have on record.

How do I know if a Fabiani deal is actually a good price?

Ignore the percentage badge and look at two figures we record: the lowest price we have ever seen the item at, and the price it usually holds. If the current price is at or near that recorded low and clearly below the usual price, the saving is real. Our method is on the how-we-verify page.

How Fabiani sales really work

Fabiani is TFG's more premium menswear label, leaning into tailoring, smart-casual and well-made basics. Starting prices are higher, so a genuine markdown here is worth more in rand terms than at the value chains, but the same caution applies to the was-price.

The honest deals tend to be on seasonal tailoring and outerwear being cleared, where the recorded low sits well under the usual price. We surface those and flag any item whose advertised was-price is higher than anything we have actually seen it sell for.

Because base prices are higher, focus on the rand saving versus the usual price, not just the percentage.
Tailoring and outerwear carry the biggest genuine reductions at clearance.
An inflated was-price is more tempting on a pricier item, so check the recorded high before trusting a big percentage.
